Grants
This page shows where your donations go! We support labs where the team has specific knowledge and key skills that will be essential for our quest for a therapy for our patients.
The Cri du Chat Research Foundation is eager to provide high-impact research grants to interested clinicians and researchers worldwide to accelerate diagnosis and management of 5p- syndrome.
Please see the Cri du Chat Research Foundation process if you are interested in applying for funding to conduct 5p- syndrome research. (insert link to application process page).
Cri du Chat Research Foundation Grant Program
The Cri du Chat Research Foundation grant program awards grants to laboratory-based researchers and clinician’s who are interested in studying 5p- syndrome.
Current Funding Priorities
Clinical Trial Readiness is the current funding priority for Cri du Chat Research Foundation. While multiple strategies for precision treatments are in development to treat 5p- syndrome, none are yet available for patients. CDCRF’s mission to accelerate the availability of safe and effective treatments that meaningfully modify 5p- syndrome to reduce suffering for patients and families. The following areas highlight our clinical trial readiness needs:
. Biology
· Translational science
. Biomarkers and endpoints for clinical trials
· Patient network of multidisciplinary clinics
Types of Grants Awarded
Types of grants awarded
Seed grant up to $25,000 USD for a duration of One year
Trainee grant up to $65,000 USD for a duration of One year
Investigator award up to $130,000 USD for a duration of up to two years
Clinical network support USD amount variable, duration variable
Indirect Costs (insert document attachment here)
Successful seed grants have included small proof-of-concept research projects or the procurement of research assets to initiate 5p- research.
Trainee grants typically fund the salary and/or the research costs for a postdoctoral fellow studying some aspect of 5p- syndrome. This grant may be renewed from a second year at CDCRF’s discretion. The typical cadence of required status reports is six months.
Investigator awards include studies of function within and beyond the synapse, protein-protein interactions, drug action in 5p- syndrome models and translational research in precision medicine for CDCRF. The typical cadence of required status reports is six months.
Clinical Network Support, to date, is for the establishment or continuation of multidisciplinary clinics to support care for patients with CDCRF and/or Natural History Study data collection.
Grant recipients are asked to give a presentation at the Cri du Chat Research Foundation’s Annual Science Conference to discuss this work.
Grant terms to note
CDCRF has a board directed policy that does not allow for the payment of indirect costs to nonprofit institutions. This policy can be reviewed (insert link to Indirect Costs Policy).
